The Des Moines Medical Education Consortium is a non-profit corporation established in 1994 which is operated solely and exclusively as a medical education organization. In 2008, the Consortium was officially recognized as the regional medical campus of the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine. The Consortium has an exclusive academic affiliation with the University of Iowa and is composed of the following member institutions:

• Broadlawns Medical Center
• Blank Children's Hospital 
• Iowa Lutheran Hospital 
• Iowa Methodist Medical Center
• University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine 
• University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics

Although not a member institution, the VA Central Iowa Health System provides a quality, educational experience for both medical students and residents while on specific rotations.
