General Pediatrics Sub-Internship

Rotation Overview

The student will function as a sub-intern on the general pediatric teaching service at Blank Children's Hospital for four weeks. This service cares for general pediatric and subspecialty pediatric patients from birth through adolescence.

Students will increase their knowledge of inpatient pediatrics, gain skills in pediatric procedures, and learn to function as an intern. They will be responsible for the evaluation and care of four to six inpatients. Sub-interns will follow their own patients in a manner similar to that of the interns on the service and will be responsible for their patients at a level commensurate with their training.

The student will be under the supervision of senior pediatric residents and pediatric hospitalists. Teaching rounds will be held daily.  The rotation includes two 24-hour calls. Prerequisite for this rotation is completion of a general pediatrics rotation.
